The Stand up to Racism members displayed remarkable bravery yesterday, as approximately 5,000 anti-racist peace activists bravely counter-protested Tommy Robinson’s ‘Unite the Kingdom’ rally, which vastly outnumbered them with an estimated 110,000-150,000 attendees. Despite the stark numerical disadvantage, these activists stood firm against Robinson’s followers, who attempted to breach police lines to reach the smaller group, attacking and injuring police officers in the process. The Home Secretary has since affirmed that those who assaulted the police will face the full force of the law, a reminder of Robinson’s own history of legal infractions, including imprisonment. We wholeheartedly salute the Stand up to Racism peace activists for their courage in braving such overwhelming numbers in the name of tolerance and humanity, and equally commend the police for their bravery in protecting the counter-protesters.

Robinson’s Criminal Convictions
Tommy Robinson’s documented criminal convictions include assaulting an off-duty police officer, who had intervened to protect Robinson’s girlfriend from Robinson, leading about 100 Luton Town Football Club supporters into a brawl at a football match that led to “threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour”, head-butting a man, mortgage fraud, being subject to a five-year stalking prevention order, for harassing a journalist, contempt of court and using a false passport to enter the USA.
