Hermetics

Hermetics, also known as Hermeticism, is a philosophical and spiritual belief system that dates back to ancient Egypt and Greece. It’s based on the teachings of the legendary figure Hermes Trismegistus, a combination of the Greek god Hermes and the Egyptian god Thoth.

The word “hermetic” comes from the Greek word “hermetikos”, meaning “secret” or “hidden”. This is because the teachings of Hermetics were traditionally only shared among a select few initiates, making it a secretive and elusive practice.

The Origins of Hermetics:

The seven principles refer to the laws of the universe that govern all aspects of life. These include the principles of mentalism, correspondence, vibration, polarity, rhythm, cause and effect, and gender. These principles are believed to be the key to understanding the workings of the universe. The four elements, which are earth, air, fire, and water, represent the building blocks of all matter and are believed to be the key to understanding the physical world. Each element also has corresponding qualities and characteristics that can be found in individuals. The three parts of the wisdom, also known as the “tria prima”, refer to the three aspects of the self – the body, mind, and spirit. These three parts are believed to be interconnected and must be in balance for an individual to achieve true enlightenment.
