The AI-pocalypse is Upon Us: Can You Spot the Difference?

Beware, internet surfers! A sinister force is taking over the world wide web: AI-generated content. According to a Dove body care advert (because, why not?), by 2025 a whopping 90% of online content will be produced by robots. Yes, you read that right – robots. It’s time to sound the alarm and educate ourselves on how to distinguish human content from AI-generated mumbo-jumbo.

In this brave new world of artificial intelligence, it’s crucial to develop your AI-dar to avoid being duped into reading robotic regurgitation. But don’t worry, we’ve got your back. Below, we present five contrasting examples of human vs AI content on various subjects. See if you can spot the difference.

Subject 1: Food Reviews

AI Example: “The artisanal, small-batch, gluten-free, vegan quinoa salad at Bistro Bliss is a symphony of flavours, with each bite a masterclass in textural harmony. The subtle notes of citrus and the freshness of the herbs elevate this dish to new heights.” (10/10 would read again)

Human Example: “Yaaas, belts r back, lol! Got a sick one from Forever 21 and it’s, like, totes adorbs. Wanna wear it with my fave ripped jeans and a graphic tee, gr8 combo, omg!” (side-eye)

Remember, folks, in this AI-dominated landscape, it’s essential to stay vigilant and recognise the telltale signs of robotic writing. So, the next time you stumble upon a beautifully crafted article or social media post, take a closer look – it might just be a cleverly disguised AI bot trying to steal your heart (and your attention span).
