Uri Geller: The Stanford Research Institute Experiments

Uri Geller is an Israeli psychic who has gained fame for his abilities to bend spoons and other metal objects with his mind. I corresponded with Uri briefly, about 30 years ago. What’s more, I’ve followed his career, since he first became famous as a psychic. As a result, I developed an interest in learning about the scientific experiments in which Uri participated, to test his psychic powers. Let me share some with you, here.

The SRI Experiments

In the early 1970s, Uri Geller was invited to the Stanford Research Institute (SRI) by physicist Russell Targ and engineer Harold Puthoff. The researchers designed a series of experiments to test whether or not Uri Geller really had psychic abilities.

In one experiment, Uri was asked to bend metal objects with his mind. Remarkably, the researchers observed that the objects involved did indeed bend, even though there was no apparent way for Uri to physically manipulate them.

In another experiment, Uri demonstrated his telepathic ability, by successfully reproducing drawings made by someone else, in another room, without directly seeing the drawings himself.

Convincing

The SRI scientists concluded that Uri Geller had demonstrated his abilities convincingly and unambiguously.

These experiments yielded a number of positive results that support the existence of Uri Geller’s paranormal abilities. What’s more, the CIA and the FBI also tested Uri Geller’s powers, on separate occasions, with both agencies concluding that Uri Geller had indeed demonstrated measurable psychic ability.
