Yesterday, Trump’s ICE officers shot a woman dead in Minnesota. Her name was Renee Good.
Rather than contrition, in a tone that has become so common in the US in recent times, the Trump administration has claimed that Renee was weaponising her car, in an attempt to attack a police officer.
Local authorities however state that this was not in fact the case, and a video which exists also casts doubt on the Trump administration’s claims that she was acting as a ‘terrorist’.
The video (see BBC link below) shows ICE officers attempting to access Renee’s car, whilst she sought to escape. As she attempted to drive away, the video shows that another ICE officer stepped in front of her car and raised his gun. If Renee was really weaponising her car, as has been claimed, she would have driven directly at the ICE officer, yet in my opinion the video clearly shows she directed her car away from the ICE officer, seeking to avoid him and the parked car shown in the video.
Despite her apparent attempts to avoid driving directly at him, the ICE officer shot her dead.
It beggars belief, that even with compelling video evidence and the word of local officials the Trump administration should so quickly and so cruelly label the dead woman victim a ‘terrorist’. For a man with a social media outlet called ‘Truth Social’, in my opinion the words ‘Trump’ and ‘truth’ rarely really coincide.
It is astounding how quickly, under Trump, the United States has fallen from its recent position of the world’s champion of freedom and justice, to its current position as an active danger to world peace and stability.
Let’s hope that the next administration returns America to its rightful place of leadership and trust, and makes right the wrongs caused by Trump and his ilk.
Sadly, whatever any future administration does, it won’t bring Renee Good back to life.
