Donald Trump’s illegal war on Iran is costing astronomical sums, amounting to a billion dollars per day. This shocking sum is adding to the USA’s already unmanageable debt, which is now over 38 trillion dollars. A superpower cannot remain a superpower indefinitely, when its debt level is so wildly out of control as to be unrecoverable. There is, however, a greater cost to Trump’s war-mongering, which are the deaths caused by American violence upon innocent Iranians, including the infamous Tomahawk strike on a school, which killed over 150 children. The US administration’s deliberate attempt to avoid fully addressing these crimes, and Trump’s failure to demonstrate contrition and repentance for his administration’s collective war crimes, is unacceptable. All those responsible must be held to account and they must face the full force of the law. No dodgy presidential pardons must be allowed to be wrongly used in an attempt to protect those responsible from facing justice.
